Opportunity

We are looking for a SMT Process Engineer/Manager to contribute to our circuit card production efforts in our facility located at the Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, Indiana. This position will setup, operate and manage automated SMT equipment for the production of captive and contact assembled electrical products for military, industrial, and commercial applications.

Responsibilities/duties

  • Lead and manage a small assembly team in high-mix, low-volume production facility
  • Maintain production flows for efficient output, while adhering to quality standards
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the PCBA production area that includes production leaders, operators, technicians, and engineers
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, yield, and cycle time
  • Provides technical guidance to productions staff, troubleshoot issues, and resolve challenges
  • Collaborates with R&D and Engineering teams to advise on manufacturability of designs and assist with prototype assembly

 

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Degree in engineering or technology
  • 5+ years of SMT operation, process engineering and management experience
  • Proficient in the setup and operation of the following equipment: Stencil Printer, Pick and Place, Reflow conveyor oven, Automated CCA washing machine, and AOI machine
  • Working knowledge of electrical testing of printed circuit boards and testing of electrical assemblies
  • Experience with IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards
  • Ability to be self-directed
  • Good time management and communication skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, US Citizen or green card holder

 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a low-volume, high-mix production environment
  • Practical experience with the basics of electrical testing of printed circuit boards and electrical assemblies
  • Work experience managing teams of 2 or more 
  • Experience with hybrid circuit card manufacturing

Hours

  • Full-time, flexible working hours, as permitted by production schedule

 

Compensation

  • Salary $75,000 - $150,000
